How to obtain the certificate

The certificate is issued by the platform where the exam was taken. It is sent to the candidate’s email in PDF and Open Badge format and can also be accessed via the public and unified Accredia register.

Is the certificate valid abroad?

Yes, the certificate is recognized and valid worldwide, thanks to the mutual recognition agreement between Accredia and EA/IAF (European and international accreditation bodies).

What are the prerequisites for taking the exam?

There are no prerequisites for taking the DigCompEdu exam.

Is the exam dependent on the training course?

Not necessarily. The exam can be taken independently to assess the candidate’s level of competence at a given time. It can also serve as a motivation to improve and follow the DigCompEdu training course afterward.

Does the Certificate Expire?

The EDSC DigCompEdu certificate does not expire, but it includes a two-year validity period for the achieved level. This means that while there is no obligation for maintenance or renewal, it is highly recommended to retake the exam after two years to demonstrate updated digital competences.

About DigCompEdu

DigCompEdu is the framework for teachers, educators, and trainers identified within the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens, DigComp 2.2.

It is the result of Action 9 of the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 by the European Commission, which introduced it under the acronym EDSC (European Digital Skills Certificate). The EDSC DigCompEdu certification scheme is currently being accredited by Accredia

Becoming an EDSC DigComp Test Center with CertiSkill is a unique opportunity for schools, companies, and organizations to enhance the digital knowledge and skills of teachers and trainers through an internationally recognized certification that is increasingly in demand in the job market.

Objectives

The exam focuses on the knowledge defined in the DigCompEdu framework’s Syllabus, which is organized into six main areas comprising a total of 22 competences:

DigCompEdu guides teachers in acquiring and assessing their digital competences, directing them toward the most appropriate teaching methodologies, applications, and tools to engage the classroom with a balanced mix of asynchronous and synchronous teaching methods.

The goal is to provide them with guidance for designing suitable, personalized, and stimulating training courses.

Training

Would you like to train before starting the certification session?

The DigCompEdu training course, conducted by a group of expert teachers in the use of technology applied to teaching, covers all six areas of competence described in the syllabus. It lasts 25 hours, divided into synchronous and asynchronous activities, and is useful for preparing for the official exam.

Exam mode

The exam is conducted in the computer lab or another environment provided by the activated Test Center, with the presence of a certified Proctor. It is conducted on the Intertek portal and consists of an online test divided into three progressively more complex parts, with a total of 144 questions to be completed in 180 minutes:

  1. Proficiency Levels: NEWCOMER (A1) and EXPLORER (A2)
  2. Proficiency Levels: INTEGRATOR (B1) and EXPERT (B2)
  3. Proficiency Levels: LEADER (C1) and PIONEER (C2)

The passing threshold for each test is 75%. After passing the first step, a link is sent to access the second test (which can be taken on a different day). Otherwise, the exam ends, and the candidate receives a certificate stating the level achieved.

The candidate cannot fail: the exam is structured to assess proficiency levels in each area of competence, verifying improvements resulting from learning processes.

The person is registered in the national Accredia register and included in the future National and European repertory, with issuance and delivery of the certificate in PDF format and as an Open Badge.

Why Obtain the EDSC DigCompEdu Certification

Innovate Education, Enhance Competences

DigCompEdu targets educators at all levels of education, from early childhood to higher and adult education, including general and professional education and training, special needs education, and non-formal learning contexts.

It is therefore a framework that broadly supports the development of digital competences specific to educators across Europe. Rather than outlining technical skills, it aims to detail how digital technologies can be used to enhance and innovate education and training, thereby also improving the digital competences of students.

Educators and trainers, therefore, play a very important role and responsibility within the complex landscape of the country’s digital transition: they, in turn, train people capable of ensuring higher standards of quality, innovation, and efficiency within business and social processes.
